Publications

The TYP Magazine is a magazine that was collectively founded in the hopes of gathering new ideas and perceptions about the Korean-American community and dispersing them in the form of letters. It is a project made by youths for youths. But that is just the surface. The magazine serves as a rendezvous for talented, young, Korean-American intellectuals to get together for a single purpose. It allows new ideas to gather together and find a source to spread it through. It is, in essence, an outlet for young ideas. Besides the pride and joy of having a magazine you can claim to have created – there is also a unique learning experience that accompanies alongside. Due to the nature of being a wholly youth-produced magazine, teenage youths get a first-hand experience at becoming independent. Leaders will learn new leadership skills. They will learn failure and success, and learn how to overcome shortcomings. They will develop their skills as a leader amongst peers. Members, on the other hand, will learn of their individual importance to the group as a whole. They will learn how to cope with new people, learn new styles and personalities – yet strengthen their own individual unique personality. Most importantly, everyone will learn how to function as a group.

2022 Total Youth Productions Magazine

Total Youth Productions (TYP) has published the first magazine of its 2022-onward reboot. Like the rest of the organization, TYP’s magazine is student-run, meaning that it is written, edited, and published by its young members. Covered topics range from the history of the barrier- braking, fashion entrepreneur Vivienne Westwood in an article by Angela Kim to the value of Korean-English bilingualism as presented by Lynn Choi. Other notable articles are “Exoplanets: A New Beginning for Humankind” by Claire Lim, which examines the implications that new discoveries by the James Webb Space Telescope have on the possibility of human colonization of exoplanets, and “How the Internet Evolved Through the Pandemic” by Joon Choi, which discusses how the sudden transition to virtual after COVID changed internet culture. An online version can be read for free on the TYP website. A print edition is soon to be available and future editions are planned to be produced biannually.

The Little Prince

Former TYP Publication

The Little Prince was TYP’s former publication. Like the current magazine, it was student-produced and aimed to give the youth a voice. The new TYP magazine continues in its honor.
