One June 21st and 22nd, TYP members attended the youth financial literacy camp hosted by Allmerits.
The 7th annual camp was online and a series of lectures that taught the essentials of personal economics to the attendees, covering everything from money concept to investing and real estate. Speakers were all financial professionals ranging from personal and organizational
financial advisors to real estate agents.
At the end of the camp, students wrote essays about what they learned for the chance to win a scholarship for the camp. There were also regular opportunities for students to win gift cards by correctly answering lecturers’ questions.
Diane Baek says, “At the financial literacy camp, we went over topics such as saving, budgeting, and investing. We also learned about credit scores and how to manage debt… Overall, it was a really informative and helpful experience!”
Caleb Kim also greatly enjoyed the experience: “The Allmerits youth money camp was a succinct yet knowledgeable experience. Every financial advisor who taught us was teaching and it felt as if they wished for every student’s success. In just two days, these well-educated teachers taught us taxes, how to get rich, and the eighth wonder of the world. Overall, the Allmerits Youth Money camp provides useful information students need for the rest of their
lives.”
